Uncharted is an action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3. The game was released on May 8, 2010.The player plays as Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter from the United States Navy who sets out to find a lost treasure of Henry Avery's known as "El Dorado". The playable portion of the single-player campaign is over four hours long and includes many side quests. Multiplayer has expanded with new modes such as co-operative play, competitive multiplayer matches with three different classes, and a third person mode that allows players to explore their character's head. Naughty Dog developed the game in its Santa Monica studio and were assisted by the Bluepoint Games development team, who assisted them with porting the game to the PlayStation 3. Drake can use a variety of firearms, including shotguns, rifles and grenades. Hand-to-hand combat is also a useful technique; the player can perform stealth kills or use "brute force". The player may also throw objects and use them to scale certain surfaces. Drake and his companions can take a limited number of hits, but can regain lost health by using bandages or first aid kits. Health can also be regained through the use of food – such as apples – and potions – such as "Chullo" (a fictional plant which increases health regeneration) – found throughout the game. The player is encouraged to explore the environment and discover hidden items.The player may take cover behind objects to dodge enemy fire or to break their line of sight so that they may safely advance towards them. The player may also blindfire around corners. The player can also perform a "hide-and-seek" with an enemy, which puts the player in a vulnerable combat position. The player can freeze time, or perform a stealth takedown (a "precision dodge" move) on their opponent to take them out of action without alerting nearby enemies. Executing such moves earns Drake experience points and bonus points, helping him level up.The camera system features three-dimensional movement – although third person – and is controlled using the left analog stick and the triggers. While the camera is locked behind cover, it has a wider field of view than that of other games in its genre.
